Subject Outline

This course will provide practical skills for testing and analysing presumptive surface residue in buildings, vehicles, boats, caravans, shipping containers and storage sheds.

The subject will also cover the common drugs of abuse and their effects on the body, surfaces in places as outlined above with a practical application.

Subject Content

This Subject will cover:

  • The skills and knowledge to confirm collection requirements
  • Preparation for collection (the area, equipment, client)
  • Specimen collection via surface drug test
  • Special procedures that apply to surface testing
  • Procedures which apply to chain of custody
  • Further testing and confirmation of result options
  • Understanding how to implement a program and maintain testing processes for business
  • How to educate the workforce on their responsibilities

Pre-Requisite Requirements

  • You must be over 18 years of age to complete this Subject
  • You must be able to provide government ID (Photo ID preferred)
  • USI ID (Australia)
  • Basic written and verbal English

Assessment

Trainees will be assessed by short answer questions and case study/scenario problems.

Certificate

This is not a nationally accredited course, therefore, on the completion of the course participants will be issued with a ‘Statement of Attendance’.
