Subject Outline

Operate elevating work platform will equip you with the skills and practical experience to operate Scissor Lifts, Vertical Lifts, and Boom Lifts (under 11m).  These skills can be used in the construction, maintenance, large retail (warehouse) and mining industries. 

Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to operate all types of scissor lift and a boom-type EWP with a boom length of less than 11m.

If you are required to operate a boom-type EWP with a boom length of greater than 11m you will need to complete the high risk work licence course.

The course will be provided as a blended delivery with the theory component being conducted in person or online and practical components are completed on your worksite.  Practical assessments and logbooks are required for verification of competency.

Subject Content

This subject will cover the use of Single or multiple machine classes (according to type of work undertaken and specific requests)

Machine Classes

  • Vertical Lift (VL)
  • Scissor Lift (SL)
  • Under 11m Self Propelled Boom (BL)

Pre-Requisite Requirements

  • You must be over 18 years of age to complete this Subject
  • You must be able to provide government ID (Photo ID preferred)
  • You must be able to provide EOI as per High-Risk Work Requirements
  • USI ID (Australia)

Assessment

Trainees will be assessed by short answer questions and case study/scenario problems.
