This Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course covers the knowledge and skills required to provide CPR, manage, and assess an emergency situation, understand DRSABCD use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED), and the legal responsibilities for the First Aider. Provide CPR is trained and assessed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Subject Content

  • Recognise and assess an emergency situation
  • Ensure safety for yourself, bystanders, and casualty
  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Seek assistance from emergency services
  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency services
  • Perform CPR in accordance with the ARC guidelines
  • Maintain respectful behaviour towards casualty
  • Operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturers’ instructions
  • Report details of incident in line with appropriate workplace or site procedures
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information in line with statutory or organisational policies
  • Contribute to a review of the first aid response as required
  • Recognise the possible psychological impacts on self and other rescuers and seek help when required

Pre-Requisite Requirements

  • You must be over 14 years of age to complete this subject (minors are to provide parental consent)
  • You must be able to provide government ID (Photo ID preferred)
  • USI ID (Australia)

Assessment

Trainees will be assessed by short answer and multiple-choice questions and use of practical exercises.
